Benedikt Hipp Featured in "Songs from the Orbs" Exhibition in Hagen
Contemporary art enthusiasts tracking the international projects of artists represented by the Nicolas Krupp Gallery can look forward to a significant upcoming solo presentation. Artist Benedikt Hipp is set to present his solo exhibition titled Songs from the Orbs at the Emil Schumacher Museum in Hagen, Germany. Scheduled to run from 13 September 2026 through 17 January 2027, the exhibition highlights a prominent voice in contemporary German art.
Exploring Material and Form in Contemporary Art
Known for his rigorous exploration of media, Hipp engages with painting, sculpture, and wood-fired ceramics. His creative process incorporates elements such as clay, fire, ash, and the passage of time as active, formative components of the finished pieces. Designed specifically for the architecture of the Emil Schumacher Museum, the presentation establishes a spatial dialogue with a simultaneous monographic exhibition dedicated to Emil Schumacher, titled Indemini. Although more than six decades separate the working periods of Schumacher and Hipp, both creators share a profound reliance on physical materials and organic processes where outcomes remain intentionally open-ended. Museum Director and curator Rouven Lotz notes that while their conceptual paths point toward different dimensions—ranging from terrestrial textures to cosmic expanses—both practices return fundamentally to the physical properties of matter, leaving traces of the visible world through anthropomorphic forms and material depth.
