The conceptual framework behind Interludio investigates the elusive nature of borders. By examining subjects through consecutive viewpoints—ranging from linear, descriptive analysis to questions of material density—the presentation challenges viewers to consider where one physical entity ends and another begins. Rather than relying purely on spatial dimensions, the works unfold in layered, evolving strata.
Visitors stepping into this exhibition encounter a distinct starting point: three scale-model houses. Featured across three separate films, these fragile structures undergo different processes of destruction as their respective narratives unfold.
The Artist Behind the Work
The project features work by David Civico, born in Donostia-San Sebastián in 1974. Civico's artistic practice centers on systematic approaches that generate ideas, reflecting an ongoing focus on the temporal nature and transformation of objects and their residues.
His background includes individual and group exhibitions at prominent regional institutions such as Koldo Mitxelena in Donostia, Artium in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and Sala Rekalde, alongside video screenings and performances at venues like Photomuseum in Zarautz, Kafe Antzokia, and Azkuna Zentroa in Bilbao. In addition to his individual practice, he has collaborated since 2005 with the collective 5X8, producing audiovisual works, theatrical productions, exhibitions, and musical concerts. Interludio marks his third exhibition hosted at Espacio Marzana.
