Espacio Marzana Presents New Exhibition of Paintings by Pedro Salaberri in Bilbao
Visitors exploring contemporary art along the Bilbao Estuary will find a new showcase at Espacio Marzana as the gallery opens a dedicated exhibition featuring the pictorial work of Pedro Salaberri.
The upcoming opening marks the third time the gallery has featured the artist from Navarre, following previous presentations in March 2003 and February 2006. Salaberri, born in Pamplona in 1947, completed his studies at the local School of Arts and Crafts alongside notable artistic peers including Mariano Royo, Juan José Aquerreta, Luis Garrido, Joaquín Resano, and Pedro Osses.
Exploring Landscapes Through Controlled Light and Geometry
For this presentation, the artist brings together a collection of "Landscapes" capturing diverse geographies. Viewers can observe depictions ranging from the Unzué crag and Valdizarbe to Cantabria, a coastal scene from Biarritz, a view from Bavaria, and three compact canvases measuring 27 by 41 centimeters depicting Montevideo under the title "Pocitos."
The works are defined by a careful balance of controlled illumination and atmospheric depth, paired with essential, occasionally geometric forms that lend a sense of order and quiet sensitivity to each composition. Flat color fields, compositional harmony, and expansive horizons shape these representations, echoing the artist's ongoing exploration of the enduring rhythms of the natural world.
