Exploring Everyday Life and Spatial Photography through the Annual Exterior Project
Folly’s artistic practice frequently examines photography, expanding the medium into expansive spatial installations. Her work investigates social, political, and cultural phenomena, observing how humans navigate environments caught between artificiality and naturalness.
For this exterior presentation, curated by Ines Goldbach, Folly selected a photographic motif originating from a personal bookcase belonging to a close friend during her residency at the Swiss Institute New York. Rendered at a monumental scale on the exterior banner, the intimate collection of publications and personal items bridges private memory with universal themes such as friendship, time, and imagination.
Visitors approaching the building encounter a monumental enlargement where everyday objects take on a life-sized presence, establishing a direct dialogue with the passing public over the course of the year.
