Life, Love, Justice: Graduation Exhibition at Kunsthaus Baselland
Kunsthaus Baselland has once again opened its spaces to the next generation of creative practitioners, hosting the annual graduation exhibition for the bachelor's and master's programs of the Art Institute at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel. Titled Life, Love, Justice, the presentation highlights newly produced works by 50 emerging artists. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the institution has partnered with the Art Institute for this major showcase, acting as a crucial bridge for students transitioning from academic training into the professional sphere.
Navigating Uncertainty and Artistic Practice
The works featured in the exhibition were developed under extraordinary circumstances, shaped by periods of restricted movement and limited access to workshops and studios. Because contemporary art relies heavily on direct engagement with materials and shared physical spaces, the sudden disruption raised urgent questions about the viability of creative production during a global crisis.
Rather than halting production, however, these constraints prompted the participating artists to rethink their methods and explore new ways of making. The resulting pieces reflect deeply on themes of isolation, the desire for physical presence, touch, and the fundamental importance of community.
