Senses Enchanted at Kunsthaus Baselland: A Major Contemporary Art Exhibition on Perception in Basel
Kunsthaus Baselland has announced its upcoming exhibition, Senses Enchanted, running from September 25, 2026, to April 4, 2027. Held at the institution's contemporary home in the Dreispitz district, the exhibition places human perception at the center of the visitor experience, exploring how we encounter art through our physical surroundings, architecture, and senses.

The exhibition brings together an extensive roster of international and regional creators, featuring works by Geneviève Cadieux, Esther Ferrer, Douglas Gordon, Cristina Iglesias, Anish Kapoor, Ernesto Neto, Tobias Rehberger, Maya Rikli, Giacomo Santiago Rogado, [Hagar Schmidhalter](https://kunsthausbaselland.ch/en/kuenstler/hagar- Schmidhalter), Soledad Sevilla, and Rémy Zaugg.
Visitors navigating the galleries will encounter large-scale installations and works that interact directly with the architectural framework of the Dreispitz building, which naturally frames views of the sky, the surrounding birch grove, and the urban landscape.
Exhibition Highlights and Public Programs
The project originates from a dialogue with the renowned ”la Caixa” Foundation Contemporary Art Collection, curated by Nimfa Bisbe and independent curator Ferran Barenblit alongside Ines Goldbach. This international selection is complemented by contributions from artists based in the Basel area or connected to the canton of Basel-Landschaft, creating a dynamic local-global dialogue.
In parallel, the upper floor will host a comprehensive solo presentation by Basel-based artist and musician Yanik Soland, exploring sound and auditory experience beyond traditional listening.
To mark the opening, the museum has scheduled an introductory event on Thursday, September 24, at 6:30 PM, detailed further on the official opening agenda page. Visitors planning to attend the opening weekend can also join specialized public activities on Sunday, September 27, including a family afternoon session, an open guided tour, and a drop-in workshop.
