Double #3 Exhibition with Sonia Kacem and Lionne Saluz at Kunst Raum Riehen

In the exhibition format 'Double,' Kunst Raum Riehen brings together regional and international artistic positions to create thematic dialogues across two independent projects. Curated by Simone Neuenschwander, this third edition presents the work of Sonia Kacem and Lionne Saluz. Both artists focus on observing their social surroundings, utilizing vastly different techniques to interrogate their environments. Sonia Kacem's contribution, titled 'A Doll’s House,' utilizes large, flexible textile sculptures scavenged from various sources to explore gravity, texture, and materiality. By staging these works across three floors, she aims to create a fictional space of memory and abstraction. Complementing this, Lionne Saluz presents 'A penny here, a penny there,' a collection of comic-derived paintings on various transparent media like polyester foil and plexiglass. Her work offers an ironic critique of the economic systems of labor and money, presenting disjointed, panel-like scenes that question modern production and reproduction traditions.
