Established in 1908, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum first opened to the public in 1914. To consolidate its collections in Bilbao, a neoclassical building in Doña Casilda Park was completed in 1945 and later declared a **National Monument** in 1962. The gallery space expanded with a modern wing in 1970 and a major reorganization in 2001. A further expansion designed by Foster + Partners is scheduled for 2026, securing its long-term cultural legacy.
