Marking two decades since earning prestigious UNESCO World Heritage recognition, the iconic Bizkaia Bridge has announced a creative photography and digital art competition. This special milestone invites creators worldwide to capture the historic transporter bridge that spans the estuary connecting Portugalete and Getxo.
Capturing an Architectural Icon Through Traditional Photography and AI
The contest opens up two distinct creative avenues for participants aged 18 and over. The traditional photography category welcomes mobile and camera shots featuring basic adjustments like exposure and color correction. Meanwhile, the digital image and artificial intelligence category invites generative AI creations, photomontages, and hybrid artworks.
Entries must focus on the bridge's structural heritage, its surrounding landscape, or its role as a monumental industrial landmark. Submissions will be accepted electronically until July 17, 2026. A panel of experts across visual arts, technology, and culture will evaluate the works based on technical excellence, conceptual innovation, and thematic connection to the landmark. Winners will be announced during a public event on the bridge's terraces on July 28, 2026.
