The leadership of the Social Sciences Section is set to change, with a newly nominated team taking over responsibilities from the autumn of 2026.
Upcoming Leadership Transition at the Social Sciences Section
Following a proposal from the search committee, the Goetheanum Leadership accepted the nomination of Johannes Kronenberg and Gerhard Schuster to succeed Gerald Häfner, who has directed the section since 2016. The incoming co-leaders bring complementary backgrounds to the role, aiming to address the wide-ranging scope of social research, community engagement, and practical approaches to modern societal challenges.
Gerhard Schuster, 52, brings extensive experience in democratic and global solidarity projects, alongside his work with the Austrian Ministry of Education. Johannes Kronenberg, 34, has spent seven years working at the Goetheanum and has contributed to publications focusing on sustainable development through an anthroposophical lens.
