Museo Aeronáutico de Málaga Welcomes Superheroes for Special Charity Toy Drive
The original passenger terminal of Málaga's airport recently became the backdrop for a heart-warming community event. The Museo Aeronáutico de Málaga hosted a collaborative toy drive to bring happiness to children undergoing hospital treatment, proving that cultural spaces can serve as vital meeting points for local solidarity.
Supporting Young Patients at Málaga's Aviation Museum
For this special initiative, the museum teamed up with the ‘Superhéroes un Niño una Sonrisa’ association, an organization dedicated to bringing smiles to hospitalized children. On December 8, eight fully costumed superheroes from the charity arrived at the venue to interact with families and greet visitors near the historic aircraft on display.
Alongside them, eight dedicated volunteers from the museum's association of friends worked to ensure a memorable experience. They opened up the aircraft cockpits and welcomed guests into the flight simulation areas, offering an engaging, hands-on day out for everyone involved.
Flight Simulators and Fun for a Great Cause
The local response to the event was overwhelmingly positive. Over a brief four-hour opening window, more than 325 visitors came through the doors to support the initiative. Thanks to their generosity, the event successfully collected 153 toys, which are destined for the pediatric wards of the Hospital Materno Infantil de Málaga and other children's hospitals across the country.
As a gesture of gratitude, the museum treated those who donated to a session in the "Soyuz" simulator—a custom space station training simulator built by the museum’s volunteer association. This gave young donors and aviation enthusiasts alike a rare opportunity to experience flight training like a real astronaut.
