Exhibition summary

This exhibition project by artist Paloma de la Cruz explores the connection between the Museo Casa Natal Picasso and the Centre Pompidou Málaga, using the space between them as an analogy for growth and transition. The installation features textile-inspired ceramic sculptures that evoke themes of domesticity, narrative memory, and artificial garden landscapes.

Curatorial context

The exhibition 'The Fruits of the Hands' serves as the second edition of the 'Vasos Comunicantes' program, a collaborative initiative between the Museo Casa Natal Picasso, the Centre Pompidou Málaga, and DKV Seguros. The project acts as a vital and disciplinary bridge between the birthplace of Pablo Ruiz Picasso, interpreted as a domestic home, and the museum, interpreted as a space for final rest and reflection. It examines the enthusiasm of artistic development and the physical consequences of creative growth. In the Museo Casa Natal Picasso, the intervention adopts a discreet and soft approach, with Paloma de la Cruz's works subtly infiltrating the museum's existing, theatrical interior. Here, the use of fabric and lace motifs evokes a sense of past eras, resonating with a warm, intimate memory. In contrast, the installation at the Centre Pompidou Málaga transforms the venue into an artificial garden inspired by the Orangerie of the Palace of Versailles. Three large sculptural bodies emerge from a vast carpet of earth, featuring ceramic fabrics that appear to lift and detach from their static nature, creating a sense of magical weightlessness.

Admission and ticket notes

The exhibition is hosted across both the Museo Casa Natal Picasso and the Centre Pompidou Málaga. Visitors are encouraged to check the official museum website for current opening hours and admission details for these venues. Admission to specific events, such as artist encounters, is free until full capacity is reached.
