Fondation Brasilea in Basel Hosts Photo Exhibition on Angola’s First President
Visitors in Basel’s port district can explore a specialized cultural showcase as Fondation Brasilea teams up with the Embassy of the Republic of Angola. The institution, known for bridging cultures through diverse artistic programming, is hosting a dedicated commemorative display marking the centenary of Agostinho Neto, the first president of Angola.
What to Expect at the "Neto in First Person" Exhibition
Titled “Neto in First Person,” the exhibition centers on the life and legacy of the historical figure through a curated selection of visual media. Attendees can view a collection of over 40 photographs alongside a dedicated video installation. Visual material is also supported by documentation from institutional partners such as the Memorial Agostinho Neto.
The presentation opens with a vernissage on Saturday, 17 September, welcoming the public starting from a morning session at 10:30 a.m., with doors opening for general viewing later that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Following the launch, the display remains open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Sunday, 25 September 2022. A closing event is scheduled for the final day of the run, starting at 2:00 p.m.
Admission to the exhibition is free of charge, offering local art and history enthusiasts open access to this international cultural exchange.
