Centre Pompidou Málaga Hosts the 2026 Live Arts Festival
From April 13 to April 25, 2026, the second edition of the Live Arts Festival (FAV) returns to transform Málaga into a vibrant hub for contemporary performance. Over two weeks, several of the city’s key cultural institutions will open their spaces to live art, theater, dance, and collaborative workshops. Visitors have a unique opportunity to step beyond traditional gallery viewing and experience dynamic, real-time creative processes.
Immersive Performances to See at Centre Pompidou Málaga
A major anchor of this year's festival is "Lucero," an immersive intervention by artist Alessandra García taking place directly inside the Centre Pompidou Málaga. Over eight consecutive days, García will inhabit various spaces of the building, turning galleries into platforms for choreographic movement, public dialogue, and creative experimentation. A highlight of this project is a continuous 24-hour performance where the artist executes a new action every hour. While many of these events are designed for visitors inside the galleries, elements of her residency will also be shared online via the center's Instagram feed.
The festival officially opens on April 13 at the Centre Pompidou Málaga with a contemporary flamenco performance by dancer David Coria and singer David Lagos, showcasing the results of their residency under the "In Progress" residency program. Theater is also on the agenda with "Ruido," a comedy by playwright Jose Padilla starring Zaira Montes and Juan Vinuesa, which brings a story of unexpected encounters and everyday struggles to the museum setting.
Collaborative and City-Wide Creative Events
The festival extends its reach throughout the city with initiatives designed to bring local communities and artists together. Among these is "Parque," a project by Cristian Alcaraz and Violeta Niebla that combines real-time writing and public performance. Following collaborative workshops at several venues—including the Picasso Birthplace Museum, the Centre Pompidou Málaga, and MUCAC La Coracha—the final performance will take place on April 17 at the Colección del Museo Ruso / MEET.

- "Qué importa el abismo" by Aïda Colmenero Dïaz at the Colección del Museo Ruso / MEET, featuring short films and a live performance centered on African women's narratives.
- "El trabajo del tiempo: la práctica de la espera" by Marc Montijano at MUCAC La Coracha, a performance exploring human transformation.
- A live recording of Spain's National Radio cultural program "La Sala," open to the public at the Picasso Birthplace Museum.
The festival draws to a close on April 25 at the Colección del Museo Ruso / MEET with Gero Domínguez’s multidisciplinary dance piece "Yo no soy la obra," featuring vocals by Perrate and guitar by Maui de Utrera. The evening concludes with an artist panel discussion and a live DJ set.
