New Immersive Artwork by Cristina Céspedes Unveiled at Colección del Museo Ruso Málaga
A captivating new site-specific art installation has been revealed at the entrance of the MEET/Colección Museo Ruso exhibition space in Málaga. Created by local artist Cristina Céspedes, the piece is a key highlight of the Málaga de Festival (MaF) 2026 cultural program. The official inauguration was attended by the artist alongside public cultural management director Luis Lafuente and Málaga Festival director Juan Antonio Vigar.
This dramatic installation occupies the prominent wall directly facing the main access staircase, welcoming visitors as they prepare to enter the exhibition rooms.
Experience "Consensus ritualis" at the Colección del Museo Ruso
Titled Consensus ritualis, the immersive installation reinterprets the architectural and symbolic interior of the European Council. By recreating this environment, Céspedes establishes an artistic dialogue between spaces designed for political governance and those dedicated to cultural expression.
Using a vibrant color palette inspired by the works of artist Georges Meurant, the installation transforms a space associated with cold decision-making into an emotional and sensory experience. The central element of the installation is a physical table, which acts as a symbolic stage for dialogue, negotiation, and collective listening.
Visitors to the museum are actively invited to participate in the artwork. By sitting at the small-scale table, guests are placed in close proximity to one another, a physical design intended to spark conversation, shared reflection, and a sense of collective responsibility.
Local Roots: Meet Málaga Artist Cristina Céspedes
Cristina Céspedes is a highly accomplished local creator with a deep academic and professional background. A Fine Arts graduate from the University of Granada, she also holds advanced qualifications in project direction, interior design, and cultural development from institutions in Málaga and Barcelona.
Through her collaborative initiative art&museum, founded alongside Marta Bustos, Céspedes has spent over a decade designing temporary artistic installations for notable regional spaces, including the Picasso Birthplace Museum and La Térmica. Her personal studio, El Cuboide, serves as the hub for her physical paintings and spatial research.

The unveiling of Consensus ritualis continues a long-standing tradition of inviting contemporary artists to transform the transit spaces of the Colección del Museo Ruso during the Málaga de Festival.
