MUCAC La Coracha to Host Contemporary Performances for Malaga's Festival of Performing Arts
The second edition of the Live Arts Festival (FAV) is returning to Malaga, transforming several of the city's key cultural venues into spaces for live performance, dance, and theater. Running from April 13 to April 25, this two-week event invites the public to engage directly with artistic creation in real time.
Among the participating institutions, MUCAC La Coracha will serve as a key setting for thought-provoking performance art, highlighting Malaga’s active role in the contemporary arts scene.
What to Expect at MUCAC La Coracha during the Festival
Visitors to MUCAC La Coracha will have the opportunity to experience "El trabajo del tiempo: la práctica de la espera" (The work of time: the practice of waiting) by artist Marc Montijano. This performance is part of his ongoing "Metamorfosis" (Metamorphosis) project, which delves into the concepts of human adaptability, patience, and the emotional states that accompany personal and physical transformation.
Additionally, MUCAC La Coracha is participating in the collaborative project "Parque," led by Cristian Alcaraz and Violeta Niebla. This initiative brings together real-time writing, performance, and community mediation. Prior to its presentation on April 17, workshops will take place with local associations and groups at various venues, including MUCAC La Coracha, to build a collective portrait of shared public space.
A City-Wide Celebration of Contemporary Expression
The festival's diverse schedule is spread across several prominent art centers in Malaga, making it easy for visitors to plan a cultural route through the city.
The event begins on April 13 at the Centre Pompidou Málaga with a contemporary flamenco dance performance by David Coria and singer David Lagos. The Centre Pompidou Málaga will also host "Lucero," an eight-day durational project by Alessandra García featuring daily interactive situations, culminating in a continuous 24-hour performance. Visitors there can also watch "Ruido," a theatrical comedy by Jose Padilla.
At the Colección del Museo Ruso, guests can experience Aïda Colmenero Dïaz's multidisciplinary work combining dance, film, and literature, as well as a collective performance by Rocío Texeira and students from the Faculty of Education. The venue will also host the festival's closing event on April 25, featuring a multidisciplinary performance by dancer Gero Domínguez, accompanied by vocalist Perrate and guitarist Maui de Utrera, followed by a discussion with the participating artists and a DJ set.
Meanwhile, the Museo Casa Natal Picasso will open its doors to the public for a live broadcast of the national radio cultural program "La Sala."
