FOTOHOF has highlighted its ongoing editorial and archival work with a dedicated event focusing on the release of Von oben im Tal. Simon Baptist – Archiv Franz Göttfried, published through FOTOHOF>EDITION.
Exploring the Franz Göttfried Photographic Legacy
The book centers on a remarkable historical discovery: a collection of approximately 500 glass negatives measuring 9 x 12 cm, found in the attic of a home in Upper Styria. Between the 1920s and the early 1940s, local farmer Franz Göttfried (1903–1980) documented the residents of St. Lambrecht during holidays, daily routines, and working life.
Through collaboration between artist Simon Baptist and the FOTOHOF Archive, this historical collection has been secured and developed into an independent archive.

To mark the publication, a public conversation took place between photography historian Christina Natlacen and artist Simon Baptist. The presentation was hosted at the Photoinstitut Bonartes, located at Seilerstätte 22 in Vienna.
