York Oratory Hosts Annual Corpus Christi Procession with Bishop Marcus Stock
The York Oratory recently welcomed hundreds of participants and local dignitaries for the annual York Corpus Christi Procession. Led by the Right Reverend Marcus Stock, Bishop of Leeds, the procession moved through historic streets near York Minster, bringing together community members, brass musicians from the University of York, visiting religious groups, and civic leaders.

The event drew prominent civic figures, including the Lord Mayor of York and her Consort, the Sheriff of York, the Master of the Guild of Freemen, and members of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Moving past familiar city landmarks such as Low Petergate, Colliergate, Walmgate, and Duncombe Place, the route reflected historic paths of faith in the area. The procession crossed Foss Bridge and paused near St George’s Church—which served as the pro-Cathedral of the Diocese of Beverley in the mid-nineteenth century—before culminating at the Oratory Church of Saint Wilfrid for Benediction.
Alongside parishioners and local clergy, participants included Franciscan Friars of the Renewal from Bradford and visitors who gathered along the route for the traditional observance.
