York Oratory Shared With the Holy Father During Roman Pilgrimage
Members of the Brothers of the Little Oratory recently traveled to Rome, where they took part in a Papal Audience and formally introduced the York Oratory to the Holy Father.
Highlights from the Roman Visit
The journey to Rome offered the community several meaningful moments tied to the broader history of the Oratory movement. Fr Richard celebrated Mass within the historic rooms at San Girolamo della Carità, the foundational site where the Oratory first began.
During the stay, members also visited the Rome Newman Centre, located at the Benedict XVI Museum. There, they viewed a preserved rosary previously given by Newman to Pope Benedict XVI in 2010, alongside a displayed letter from the late pontiff. Additional stops during the itinerary included meeting with the Sisters of the Spiritual Family The Work, and viewing historical items associated with Pope Benedict, including his camauro.
