Sala BBK Unveils Family-Focused Cultural Lineup Across Bilbao
As warmer weather arrives, Sala BBK and its parent organization are rolling out an expansive program of outdoor and community-centered events in Bilbao. Designed to blend learning, nature, and shared family experiences, the upcoming schedule features interactive storytelling, traditional celebrations, and a brand-new multidisciplinary mountain gathering.
Family Activities and Cultural Events Around Bilbao
Visitors and local families can look forward to several distinct gatherings bridging art, local heritage, and community engagement throughout late spring and early summer:
- Musical Storytelling at the Bilbao Book Fair: During the weekends of May 30–31 and June 6–7, the fair tent will host interactive storytelling sessions set to live music. Participating families will also be entered into a book pack raffle.
- Ibilaldia Cultural Celebration: On Sunday, May 31, a dedicated recreational space filled with games and workshops will welcome young audiences to celebrate the Basque language and cultural traditions.
- The Premiere of Mendian at Kobetamendi: Marking part of the special programming for the 20th anniversary of Bilbao BBK Live, a daytime family event called Mendian takes place on Sunday, June 7. From midday into the evening, attendees can explore the mountain through active walking tours and three themed areas—Zaborra, Komedia, and Orkestra—featuring recycled instrument performances, stand-up comedy, and open-air symphonic music.
- BBKantuz Txiki Choral Gathering: On Saturday, June 13, approximately one hundred children's voices from various local choirs will unite at the Plaza de la Convivencia for a public choral showcase of popular music.
