Sala BBK Unveils New Theater Production “Gaupasa” for Aste Nagusia in Bilbao
Central Bilbao cultural venue Sala BBK has introduced its latest in-house theater creation, titled “Gaupasa”, scheduled to anchor the venue's offerings for the upcoming Aste Nagusia festivities. Marking the fourth consecutive year that the cultural space has developed an original stage production expressly for the city's major summer celebrations, the new comedy aims to capture the spirit of local traditions and community life.
What Visitors Can Expect from “Gaupasa” at Sala BBK
Written and directed by local playwright David Caiña, the play centers on the Txorimalo group of friends, following fifteen years of shared experiences during Bilbao's festivals. The narrative explores evolving romances, personal clashes, enduring friendships, and the collective memories that bind a traditional Basque cuadrilla together.
The stage features an ensemble cast including Aiora Sedano, Josu Angulo, Iñaki Maruri, Lucía Astigarraga, Ibai González Rica, and David Caiña. Blending humor, nostalgia, and generational reflections on urban celebrations, the production continues a seasonal tradition that follows previous successful comedy projects at the venue, such as “Agur, Otxoa basatia!”, “Urte berri off. ¡Feliz 2025!”, and “Confeti. El regreso”.

“Gaupasa” will run from August 23 to August 30 at the theater located on Bilbao’s Gran Vía. The run features eight performances, all scheduled for 7:30 PM. Tickets are currently available for purchase at 25 euros.
