Experience Málaga's Fair Fireworks from the Rooftop of Catedral de Málaga
The annual Málaga Fair kicks off in spectacular fashion, and this year, visitors have a rare opportunity to witness the opening pyrotechnics from one of the city's most elevated and historic vantage points. The Catedral de Málaga has announced that it will open its rooftops (cubiertas) for a special late-night event, allowing a limited number of guests to watch the fireworks display directly from the cathedral's architectural vaults.
Planning Your Visit: Schedule and Cathedral Rooftop Access
The special evening access is scheduled for Friday, August 11. On the night of the event, ticket holders can enter through the patio of the Sagrario gate, which is located on Calle Molina Lario. The gates are scheduled to open at 22:30 and will close at 23:45.
Upon entering the patio, visitors can begin their ascent to the roof to find a spot before the show begins. For those who arrive with sufficient time, cathedral staff will offer an optional guided tour of the rooftops prior to the fireworks. Once the pyrotechnic show concludes, visitors will be guided back down to exit the premises in an orderly and quiet manner.
Please note that reaching the viewing area requires climbing a staircase of 200 steps. There is no alternative access, meaning the experience is not adapted for individuals with reduced mobility.
Ticket Pricing and Booking Details for the Pyrotechnics Display
To ensure safety and comfort on the historic vaults, capacity is strictly limited to 140 attendees.
- Pricing: Tickets cost €30 per person. This is a flat rate with no discounts for seniors, children, or local residents. Every individual entering the rooftop must have a valid ticket. Children must be old enough to walk up the steps independently to be permitted entry.
- How to Buy: Tickets go on sale Friday, August 4, starting at 10:00 AM.
- Allocation: A total of 124 tickets will be sold online via the official booking portal, while the remaining 16 tickets can be purchased in person at the cathedral's physical ticket office. There is no purchase limit per person.
Watching the fair’s inaugural celebration from the vaults of "La Manquita" offers a memorable perspective on local Andalusian culture and traditions.
