New Picasso Exhibition Explores Memory and Desire at Museo Picasso Málaga
An upcoming exhibition at the Museo Picasso Málaga is set to offer visitors a deep dive into the complex evolution of the modern artistic subject. The display also highlights how Spanish cultural figures like Salvador Dalí and Federico García Lorca responded to and interpreted Picasso's groundbreaking artistic shifts. Together, these works explore how personal memory and human desire interact to reshape cultural symbols and challenge traditional artistic frameworks.

At the heart of the exhibition is Picasso's 1925 painting, Study with Plaster Head (on loan from the Museum of Modern Art in New York). Created during the summer in Juan-les-Pins, this piece is widely regarded as a turning point in his career, bridging historical classical motifs with the emerging surrealist currents of the era.
The painting depicts a multifaceted plaster bust that splits into shadows, reflecting a sense of fragmented identity.
