This exhibition showcases works by Daniel Pešta, featuring multimedia pieces from his recent solo show 'Something is wrong'. The exhibition delves into the artist's central themes of psychological, philosophical, and political urgency, questioning humanity's future in the face of technological advancement and societal collapse.
Presenting works from his recent solo exhibition 'Something is wrong' at the Tana Art Space, which was shown at the Venice Biennale, this exhibition by Daniel Pešta brings his multimedia art to the Czech Republic for the first time. Pešta's practice spans paintings, watercolours, objects, installations, videos, and assemblages, all characterized by an existential urgency. His work confronts pressing contemporary issues, including the future of humanity, the instability of democratic systems, the rise of extremism, and the cyclical nature of history. The exhibition prompts reflection on societal choices, the value of human life, and the underlying forces that shape our world, encapsulated by the questions WHO rules our world? And WHY?
Curated by Dadja Altenburg Kohl, the exhibition is hosted at Museum Montanelli, Prague. Pešta's art encourages viewers to consider historical lessons, personal convictions, and civic engagement as crucial elements in shaping a better future, rather than passively succumbing to global crises and societal challenges.
