Confirmation Classes and Spring 2027 Schedule at Kópavogskirkja in Kópavogur
Planning for the upcoming confirmation season is underway at Kópavogur's landmark hilltop church. Families preparing for the 2027 confirmation ceremonies can now review the curriculum formats, registration procedures, and important dates announced by the parish.
Preparing for Confirmation in Kópavogur
Registration for the 2026–2027 confirmation instruction period introduces a digital shift, utilizing the Abler platform for the first time. Official opening details for enrollment will be posted directly on the Kópavogskirkja website.
Participants can choose between two primary instruction paths:
- Late Summer Course: Running from August 19 to August 21, 2026, daily from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM at the Borgir community center, this intensive option exempts students from weekly autumn and winter classes.
- Winter Instruction: This track begins in September, aligning with the schedule of Kárnesskóli.
Additional joint classes and gatherings are scheduled around the winter holidays, alongside a dedicated day trip. Furthermore, families are invited to an introductory service and meeting at the church on August 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a follow-up gathering planned for January 2027.
Spring 2027 Ceremony Dates
Ceremonies will take place across several spring dates, allowing candidates to select their preferred service:
- Sunday, March 14, 2027 (11:00 AM and 1:00 PM)
- Palm Sunday, March 21, 2027 (11:00 AM)
- Maundy Thursday, March 25, 2027 (11:00 AM)
