Preparing for Confirmation Classes at Reykjavík Cathedral
Reykjavík Cathedral is preparing to welcome youth for its upcoming confirmation education program, running through the winter season. Designed for young people currently in the 8th grade who are considering or have decided to confirm their faith in the spring of 2027, the community program spans instruction, shared activities, and local heritage.
What to Expect from the Winter Programme
The upcoming season offers a broad curriculum structured to introduce participants to Christian faith, ethics, and culture. Educational sessions will explore biblical history, church liturgy, traditions, and music, alongside modern themes such as life skills, human rights, environmental care, and international development work.
A central feature of the program is the weekend confirmation trip to Vatnaskógur in Svínadalur, organized in cooperation with children from neighboring parishes. This location has hosted KFUM summer camps for a century, offering a natural setting tailored for youth activities, outdoor exploration, and group learning. Visits are scheduled separately, with group dates planned in September.
