SÍM Gallery Open Call: Exhibiting Contemporary Art in Reykjavik for 2027
Artists looking to showcase contemporary work in the capital can now submit proposals for the upcoming exhibition schedule. SÍM Gallery, operated by the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, has officially opened its application process for slots spanning February through December 2027.
Planning an Exhibition at SÍM Gallery
As a central hub for both local member artists and visiting international creators, the gallery provides a dynamic platform for changing contemporary art projects. For those planning a submission, the process requires a project description of up to 500 words, a brief artist biography, and a preferred timeframe within the 2027 calendar.
The application window closes on August 23, 2026. Proposals should be directed to the official gallery email. Following the deadline, an Exhibition Committee reviews all submissions, and every applicant receives a response regarding their proposal. Additional inquiries can be sent to the main association contact.
Selected participants are subject to an exhibition fee of ISK 50,000. This fee covers the rental and use of the gallery space during both the setup phase and the run of the show, access to available equipment and tools, as well as digital promotion via the organization's website and newsletter.
