Exhibition summary

Erdbank by Armin Muhamedagić is an artistic installation paying homage to the tradition of earth construction. This seating sculpture, made of compressed clay, serves as a place of rest and an ecological statement, designed to return to the earth over time.

Curatorial context

The installation 'Erdbank' by Armin Muhamedagić is a tribute to the rich historical tradition of using clay as a building material, connecting ancient cultures with contemporary ecological awareness. The monolithic bench, measuring 1x1x1 meters and weighing 1,200 kg, is constructed from 15 compressed layers of clay, emphasizing the material's organic beauty and thermal properties. Positioned in a designated wild area, the 'Erdbank' is intended to be left to the elements, symbolizing the cycle of becoming and passing away. Its gentle decomposition will return it to the earth, potentially fostering new life. This concept aligns with the artist's multidisciplinary approach, exploring the spaces between design and art, and encouraging a new perspective on the beauty of the earth.
