Experience "Hands Up": An Interactive Exhibition Exploring Deaf Culture and Communication in Vienna

An interactive exhibition that offers an immersive journey into the world of silence, guided by deaf individuals. Visitors gain insights into the deaf experience, explore non-verbal communication, and learn simple gestures, aiming to bridge the gap between the hearing and deaf communities.

The 'Hands Up' exhibition offers a unique and interactive exploration of silence and communication, guided by deaf individuals. This exhibition provides visitors with a profound opportunity to understand the daily experiences of deaf people, including the challenges they face and potential solutions. Participants are encouraged to engage actively, using special headphones and learning basic gestures. A highlight is the 'sign language karaoke,' where visitors can follow an avatar signing a song. The experience is designed to foster empathy and break down communication barriers, creating a safe space for interaction and understanding between the hearing and deaf communities. The aim is to celebrate the beauty of sign languages and non-verbal communication, building bridges and fostering connection.
