The Kunst Haus Wien is dedicated to the life's work of Viennese artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, showcasing his unique artistic and architectural contributions. The museum features a permanent exhibition of his paintings, prints, and objects, alongside temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.
The Kunst Haus Wien, originally a furniture factory rebuilt by Friedensreich Hundertwasser between 1989 and 1991, serves as an extraordinary exhibition center celebrating his distinctive artistic vision. Hundertwasser, a visionary painter, architect, and ecologist, imbued the building with his signature style, characterized by irregular features, vibrant colors, and a disregard for straight lines.
The museum, which opened in 1991 and is a prime example of sustainability, houses the world's only permanent exhibition dedicated to Hundertwasser's oeuvre. Across its first two floors, visitors can discover around 170 of his works, including paintings, prints, and tapestries, as well as objects that illustrate his philosophy of ecological living. The upper two floors are dedicated to temporary exhibitions showcasing exciting contemporary art, ensuring a dynamic and diverse visitor experience.
