Curatorial context

The exhibition 'Familie Schick – Ergebnisse einer Spurensuche von Bianca Pedrina' at the Bezirksmuseum Mariahilf presents an artistic exploration of a family history, initiated by the placement of a stumbling stone for members of the Schick family in September 2025. Artist Bianca Pedrina has spent nine months working in a dedicated museum space, gradually filling it with objects, artifacts, images, letters, film, and sound documents related to her great-grandfather Moritz, grandmother Blanka, and great-uncle Emil. The exhibition questions how to narrate a family story whose central voices are silenced, using the evolving archive as a space to listen for traces and omissions, acknowledging that it speaks in fragments and that art attempts to connect these pieces.
