This group exhibition, 'Mutatis Mutandis,' investigates the intricate relationships between contemporary events, material culture, history, and memory. It presents works that explore the dynamics of visible and invisible structures and networks, questioning modern subjectivities through the paradoxical use of media.

Curatorial context

Mutatis Mutandis' is a group exhibition that gathers a series of works exploring the complex relationships between current events, materiality, history, and memory, while introducing possible re-presentations. Discontinuous narratives, as well as formal and mental strategies for the reprocessing of information and images, are used to examine the functioning of visible and invisible structures and networks. The exhibition also questions the complex fabric of contemporary subjectivities through the at times paradoxical use of modern and traditional media. The exhibition features artists such as Babak Afrassiabi, who uses video, objects, and text to research historical conditions of politics and cultural production; Edgar Arceneaux, who constructs a complex web of associations in drawings, installations, and video to subvert conventional narration and explore the boundaries of human knowledge; Hany Armanious, whose sculptural practice focuses on casting everyday objects from unexpected materials to highlight wear and the process of replication; Louidgi Beltrame, who deconstructs cinematic structures by combining documentation, fiction, and architecture, exploring analogies between architectural language and film; Elisabetta Benassi, creating emotionally charged installations, photographs, performances, and videos that reference literature, film, psychoanalysis, and politics; Andrea Branzi, a key figure in avant-garde design and radical architecture, whose 'Grandi Legni' assemblages explore historical iconography, technology, and the intersection of modernity and antiquity; Luke Fowler, whose installations examine the historical entanglements of place, sound, and film, exploring documentary filmmaking and the social significance of sound; and Suzanne Treister, a digital artist whose work delves into technology history, the military-industrial complex, and occult thinking, with series like 'Alchemy' and 'HEXEN 2.0' reframing the world through alchemical drawings and exploring histories of mass control and countercultural movements.
