Curatorial context

Earth showcases a dialogue between two local artists, painter Felicity Keefe and ceramicist Jane Sheppard, as they explore the fundamental elements of the natural world. Felicity Keefe’s oil paintings interpret the British landscape through a lens of subtle hues and light, capturing the atmospheric, ever-changing nature of the terrain across seasons and time. Her work highlights both the brooding and beautiful aspects of the Isles, offering a visceral reimagining of physical environments. Complementing these paintings, Jane Sheppard’s ceramics focus on the tactile qualities of the earth itself. Drawing inspiration from natural shapes and surfaces, her vessels and sculptures reflect a deep interest in clay as a spiritual and historical medium, connecting contemporary practice to the long history of human experience. Together, these works create a cohesive celebration of color, texture, and the raw power of the land.

Entry to the exhibition is free. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, with a private view held on Thursday, September 24th, from 6pm to 8.30pm.
