Exhibition summary

An immersive joint installation by artists Claire Clark and Jordy R. Poma that bridges the natural world with the human experience of loss. The exhibition explores themes of fertility, ecology, and climate change through sculpture and traditional indigenous perspectives.

Curatorial context

The Fragility of Life brings together the practices of friends and collaborators Claire Clark and Jordy R. Poma. The exhibition serves as an immersive installation that creates a unique environment addressing the complexities of the natural world and human existence. By connecting their distinct backgrounds—Clark’s work focusing on pregnancy, grief, and the life cycle, and Poma’s focus on indigenous heritage and climate change—the artists invite visitors to reconsider their relationship with the earth. Claire Clark utilizes sculptural forms, such as fallen leaves and ocean imagery, to symbolize the fleeting nature of life and deep-rooted emotion. Complementing this, Jordy R. Poma addresses the ecological crisis by drawing on Peruvian heritage, traditional healing, and food sources to advocate for a more sustainable human connection to the land. The exhibition also features a fundraising component, with a raffle taking place during the private view on August 1st to support Las Mujeres Emprendedoras de Mishquiyacu, a collective of women in Peru dedicated to preserving traditional weaving techniques.

Admission and ticket notes

The exhibition is open to the public with a private view event scheduled for August 1st, during which a fundraising raffle will be held to support a women's charity in Peru. Further information on visiting can be found via the studio's exhibition programme page.
