Casita del Jardinero – CIFAL Málaga Joins the EcoTurActiva Initiative for Green Employment
Casita del Jardinero – CIFAL Málaga, operating as part of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), has taken on a role in the EcoTurActiva project. Led by the Spanish Olympic Committee (Comité Olímpico Español), the initiative focuses on building professional capabilities in sustainable sports tourism and fostering green employment.
Advancing Sustainable Sports Tourism in Málaga and Beyond
The collaborative project brings together the Spanish Olympic Committee, CIFAL Málaga, and Smart City Cluster as consortium partners. Backed by grant funding from the Empleaverde+ Program, the initiative is designed to span 18 months. Its primary mission is to guide public and private sector professionals in managing nature-based tourism and sporting activities using frameworks rooted in circular economy principles, digital tools, social inclusion, and ecological responsibility.
The curriculum targets municipal technicians, tourism coordinators, and sports professionals primarily across Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Extremadura. Training modules cover low-impact sporting events, active ecotourism, sustainable mobility, digital tracking of water and carbon footprints, and inclusive practices.
Fostering Ecological Transition and UN Goals
Blending digital learning methods with on-site instruction, mentoring, and professional networking, the program concludes with a mixed-format gathering where participants showcase environmental proposals to an expert panel. Through these efforts, the project aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, promoting climate action, responsible resource use, and sustainable urban environments.
