The Weight of Fragility Contemporary Art Exhibition at MUCAC La Coracha Malaga

This ephemeral installation by artist Françoise Vanneraud explores themes of ecological vulnerability and the human impact on the environment. The exhibition 'The Weight of Fragility' by Françoise Vanneraud is an installation that interrogates the tension between materiality and emptiness, equilibrium and collapse. Conceived in 2025 as a revision of a 2012 project, the work utilizes dry branches and roots collected from the local Mount Victoria in Malaga, suspended in the air to create a resonant environment. The installation acts as a symbolic reflection on the fragility of our ecosystems, using these organic elements to map the human impact on nature and the vulnerability of our connection to the territory we inhabit. Beyond its physical presence, the work incorporates crumpled paper to evoke fragmented cartographies, representing landscapes that have been altered or destroyed by human intervention. Through this poetic synthesis, Vanneraud invites visitors to reconsider the human relationship with the environment from a non-anthropocentric perspective. The installation encourages a moment of reflection on the ethics of care and the precarious balance between habitation and destruction, suggesting that our collective existence, much like the roots in the piece, rests in a constant state of transition and displacement.

Entry to the museum is free. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00, providing general access to the exhibition space at MUCAC La Coracha, Building 1, Sustainable Malaga Zero Space.
