The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague presents an exhibition dedicated to the art of restoring its significant collection of textiles, which includes Renaissance and Baroque tapestries, as well as numerous liturgical vestments and textiles dating back to the Middle Ages. This exhibition is a result of the project 'Historical Tapestries and Textiles from the Collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague – Conservation and Preservation,' funded by the EEA and Norway. Through this initiative, nine historical tapestries, an embroidered screen, and eleven liturgical vestments and textiles were conserved between 2015 and 2017. The conservation work was carried out in specialized workshops, both by independent art restorers and the museum's own team, with crucial collaboration enabled by the project's funding. The exhibition now makes these meticulously preserved pieces accessible to the public, offering a glimpse into the intricate process of textile conservation and the rich history embedded within these delicate artifacts.
