Director's Choice: Discover Masterpieces of Decorative Arts & Design in Prague

The Director's Choice exhibition offers a curated glimpse into the rich collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, presenting significant works across decorative arts and design. This exhibition stems from a selection made by the museum's director, Helena Koenigsmarková, for a book in the Director's Choice series, which highlights prominent museums through their directors' perspectives. The display delves into the history of the museum's collections, particularly focusing on their development during periods of social transformation. Organized into thirty thematic sections, it traces the evolution of arts and crafts from the Gothic and Renaissance periods through to the first half of the 20th century, featuring notable works by artists such as Alphonse Mucha, František Drtikol, Pavel Janák, and Ladislav Sutnar. Complementing these highlighted pieces are nearly three hundred additional objects drawn from the museum's broad holdings, including furniture, glass, fashion and clothing, jewelry, toys, and photography.

Admission is available with full and concession rates, as well as a family ticket. Opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays.
