Held in commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Josef Sudek, this exhibition delves into the deep and mutually enriching friendship between the renowned photographer (1896–1976) and Prague Castle architect Otto Rothmayer (1892–1966). The extensive display features Sudek’s world-famous and newly presented photographs of Rothmayer’s realizations at Prague Castle. It also prominently includes a selection of images from Sudek’s series 'A Walk in the Magic Garden' and 'Remembrances,' taken in and around Rothmayer’s villa in Prague 6-Břevnov. Complementing the photographic works are Sudek’s photographs mounted after Rothmayer’s design, prototypes of the architect’s unique garden furniture, and authentic objects and artifacts created by Sudek’s and Rothmayer’s friends, for whom the villa served as a vibrant hub of gathering and collaboration from the 1940s to the 1960s. This exhibition is a collaboration with The Prague City Museum, which administers the Villa Rothmayer, and highlights the shared contribution to the villa's renovation and refurbishment by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
