The AMNESIA project by Jiří Sozanský commemorates significant cultural figures who faced totalitarian regimes. The exhibition highlights their artistic quality and courage, serving as a reminder of bravery across different historical periods.
Jiří Sozanský’s AMNESIA project is a profound artistic endeavor dedicated to commemorating selected cultural figures who stood against Nazism and communism during the 20th century. Beyond their artistic merit, these figures are recognized for their courage in confronting destructive totalitarian systems. The project symbolically represents a broad spectrum of individuals who endured similar fates, including Josef Čapek, Emil Filla, Milada Horáková, Záviš Kalandra, Jan Zahradníček, Jan Zajíc, Jan Palach, Ivan M. Jirous, Jiří Stránský, and Václav Havel.
Created in cooperation with leading historians and Czech studies scholars, AMNESIA notably commemorates the thirtieth anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. It serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring value and necessity of bravery in any era, a theme that has consistently defined Jiří Sozanský’s artistic career. The exhibition's architectural design was handled by Josef Pleskot, with graphic design by Marek Jodas.
