This exhibition showcases the diverse work of artist Eliška Rožátová, known for her contributions to glass art, painting, and mosaics. It highlights her innovative techniques and unique sense of color, presenting a representative selection of her lifelong oeuvre.
Eliška Rožátová, a prominent artist who emerged in the early 1960s, is celebrated for her distinctive contributions as a painter, draughtswoman, glass artist, and creator of architectural realisations and sculptural objects. While often associated with glass art, she is also an accomplished painter with a remarkable sense of color and a unique stylistic manner. Her artistic practice is marked by a courageous experimentation, evident in her search for new mosaic techniques, her innovative glass sculptures, and her contemporary paintings where she treats classical methods with remarkable freedom.
The exhibition at Museum Kampa builds upon the 2024 monograph by JB Publishing, offering a curated selection of Rožátová's significant works throughout her career. It places a strong emphasis on her groundbreaking use of glass and its connection to the Neo-Expressionist wave of the 1980s, alongside her compelling contemporary paintings. Notably, the exhibition includes two newly created glass tables for the terrace space and the reinstallation of her 1989 piece, 'Narušená struktura' (Disturbed Structure).
