This exhibition at Museum Kampa showcases the work of Vojtěch Kovařík, moving from his signature painting style to three-dimensional forms including reliefs and sculptures. It explores universal themes of destiny, free will, and ancient myths through oversized heroic figures.
The exhibition 'From Lines to Matter' at Museum Kampa delves into Vojtěch Kovařík's artistic evolution, presenting his paintings alongside new reliefs and sculptures. Kovařík confronts fundamental themes of predestination and free will, drawing inspiration from Euro-American civilization's ancient myths, gods, Titans, and heroes. These archetypal figures, rendered in monumental and robust forms, serve as markers for human life and the search for meaning. The exhibition's visual language is a unique synthesis of antiquity, modernity, and digital influences, referencing classical morphology, Mexican muralists, German Expressionism, and contemporary web-design gradients. Figures are depicted in statuesque postures, with limbs transformed into expressive matter, set against stylized Mediterranean landscapes or interiors.
