The Resonance exhibition presents a comprehensive selection of works by Miloš Ševčík (1939–2007), charting the progression of his artistic vision across painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture from the 1960s through to 2007. The exhibition moves from initial figurative and allegorical motifs to his signature semi-abstract biomorphic structures, which deeply engage with themes of humanity, nature, light, and continuous transformation.
Ševčík’s art masterfully blends imagination with keen observations of organic forms, vividly capturing the dynamics of growth, decay, and the subtle energy inherent in life. Visitors are invited to experience art that fluidly navigates the space between the tangible and the elusive, the solidity of form and its gradual dissolution. Curator Jolana Pastor highlights that Ševčík’s oeuvre is best understood not as a linear progression, but as an intricate emotional and mental map of an artist’s inner world. Through his figures and biomorphic forms, Ševčík sought to uncover the essence of human existence, producing a body of work that bears witness to the ordinary, vulnerable, and sometimes profoundly uprooted aspects of humanity, a testament to its enduring relevance.
