Curatorial context

Vital Collapse brings together the works of Ivan Pinkava and Vojtěch Míča, artists who experienced the late stages of totalitarianism and the subsequent euphoria of restored freedom. Their oeuvres critically examine human identity and the world we inhabit, questioning established truths and opening space for deeper understanding and freedom. Pinkava's work often transforms the human form into a 'material' shaped by processes that challenge comprehension, while Miča's art focuses on traces of spiritual activities that imbue matter with life, countering cosmic coldness. Both artists explore belonging and cleanse the fundamental human feelings of loneliness and solitude, moving from unbearable states towards a shared understanding of our situation. The exhibition is curated by Petr Vaňous.
