This exhibition delves into the artistic journey of sculptor Vladimír Janoušek (1922–1986), showcasing his prolific output across different periods. It highlights his engagement with the motif of time, drawing connections to his favorite poet, František Halas. The display features a wide array of sculptures, objects, reliefs, drawings, and photographs, many of which are rare or previously unseen.
The exhibition 'Vladimír Janoušek Times' offers an in-depth look at the significant Czech sculptor Vladimír Janoušek (1922–1986), a graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and a co-founder of the art group UB 12. The exhibition explores the three distinct periods identified in his work by curator Karel Srp: crystals and growth, pendulums, and variable sculptures, all interconnected by the motif of time, inspired by his favorite poet, František Halas.
The presentation, spanning three floors and designed by architect Dominik Lang, includes nearly two hundred works. Visitors will encounter sculptures, objects, and reliefs alongside drawings and photographs, as well as authentic furniture from Janoušek's villa. The exhibition highlights many rare and previously unseen pieces, offering a scale of presentation that was not possible during his lifetime or after 1990. The display is conceived as an interpretation, with sculptures placed on recycled exhibition panelling and furniture from Janoušek’s personal space, replacing traditional pedestals. Kinetic sculptures are also presented through video recordings. The exhibition also touches upon the artist's restricted public and exhibition activity during the period of normalization, and specific sections are named after his works and thematic explorations, such as 'Jugglers', 'Falls', and a 'forest of monumental dark moving figures'.
