ORCHIDS: Journeys of Discovery – Vibrant Exhibition and Plant Sale at Prague Botanical Garden

This annual orchid exhibition celebrates the arrival of spring with colorful blooms and offers insights into the history of orchid cultivation and exploration. Visitors can enjoy intricate floral displays, purchase exotic plants, and participate in creative workshops.

The annual orchid exhibition, 'ORCHIDS: Journeys of Discovery', returns to the Prague Botanical Garden, celebrating the vibrant beauty of these extraordinary plants after the winter months. This year's exhibition delves into the fascinating history of orchid exploration and cultivation, transporting visitors back to the era of early Czech greenhouses and the beginnings of orchid collections. It recalls a time when explorers ventured into tropical regions, collectors paid exorbitant sums for rare specimens, and castle gardeners embarked on daily adventures to care for these delicate plants. The exhibition, located in the Fata Morgana Greenhouse, features themed floral arrangements filled with orchids and other tropical plants, showcasing both delicate details and striking individual specimens. The installation was created in cooperation with the Horticultural Academy in Mělník and curated by Ing. Romana Rybková, the garden's curator of tropical plants. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can enjoy the traditional orchid sale in the Exhibition Hall of the Ornamental Garden, offering a wide selection of orchids and houseplants, along with growing supplies and expert advice. Weekend visitors can also engage in creative workshops to design and build their own miniature greenhouse.

Admission to the exhibition is included in the standard entrance fee to the botanical garden. Different ticket types are available for adults, children, students, seniors, and families, with discounts for online purchases. Separate tickets are required for the creative workshops.
