The outdoor lounge furniture at Vienna's MuseumsQuartier, affectionately known as the MQ-Möbel, has evolved into a famous trademark of the cultural hub. Inaugurated in 2001, the MuseumsQuartier is one of the world's largest cultural areas and a popular summer meeting point. The colorful outdoor furniture, which debuted in 2002, significantly contributes to this vibrant atmosphere. Originally named Enzi, after Daniela Enzi, the then-procurator of the MuseumsQuartier, the designs were created by the Viennese architectural group PPAG, who were commissioned to provide ideas for the courtyard's design. In 2005, these cult pieces were honored with the Adolf-Loos-State Prize for Design. The MQ-Möbel have undergone several developments, evolving from Enzis to Enzos and later the Viena model. The color selection is often determined by public online voting, with vibrant names like 'Mermaid' or 'Candy Shop Pink'. These ambassadorial pieces for Vienna and the MuseumsQuartier also travel across Europe, showcasing Viennese design internationally.
