Running from mid-April to mid-June 2024, 'Hinter den Kulissen' (Behind the Scenes) is a captivating photo exhibition situated along the main avenue of the Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna. The exhibition showcases a selection of unique plants from the extensive greenhouse collections, many of which are not typically visible to the public. These special specimens are cultivated in glasshouses housing around 6,000 plant species, with a significant portion reserved for research and largely unseen by visitors. The photographs aim to bring these hidden botanical treasures into view, highlighting their beauty and diversity during their blooming and fruiting periods. Beyond the plants themselves, the exhibition also draws attention to the essential work undertaken by the garden's expert horticulturalists. It celebrates their dedication and skill in cultivating these often rare and challenging specimens. Located between the main entrance and the Reitertor, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity for visitors to connect with the less visible aspects of the Botanical Garden's operations and its rich plant diversity.
