The Wiener Schwammerltage 2024, organized by the Austrian Mycological Society and the Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna, was an exhibition dedicated to the rich variety of mushrooms found in Austria. Held in the Kalthaus of the Botanical Garden, the event aimed to educate visitors about mushroom identification, especially for culinary purposes, as many edible species are not commonly recognized. The exhibition presented up to 200 species of mushrooms, including fresh specimens and detailed models, alongside 16 informative display boards detailing their life cycles and uses. Complementary exhibitors, such as MyPilz, demonstrated practical applications like using soil fungi in agriculture. For culinary enthusiasts, the Pfisterhof provided mushroom-based dishes. Attendees could also bring their own collected fungi for expert identification, making it an interactive and educational experience about these fascinating organisms.

Admission prices were €5 for regular tickets and €3 for concessions. Free entry was available for children and young people up to 18 years old, students and staff of the University of Vienna, and members of the Friends of the Botanical Garden association.
