This exhibition explores the essential interdependencies of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, highlighting them as the foundational pillars of freedom and self-determination within the European Union and democratic states. It emphasizes the importance of political education and continuous advocacy for these principles.
The exhibition 'Demokratie-Menschenrechte-Rechtsstaat' (Democracy-Human Rights-Rule of Law) posits that only the synergistic interaction of these three elements can guarantee freedom and citizen participation. These principles are presented as the very roots of the European Union's community of values and all democratic legal systems. The exhibition details the core values upon which the Union is founded: respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and the observance of human rights, including those of individuals belonging to minority groups. These shared values are integral to the member states' societies, characterized by pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity, and gender equality. Ensuring the stability of the democratic rule of law and the protection of human rights is achievable only through robust political education and persistent promotion of the value of legal principles. The organization 'Justizgeschichte und Rechtsstaat' (Judicial History and Rule of Law) aims to convey the significance of this inseparable triad – Democracy, Human Rights, Rule of Law – to a broad public through exhibitions, discussions, guided tours, and educational materials for schools. The exhibition specifically encourages school classes to visit as an impetus for political education.
